Isha Andrews is a newly hired vice president in a new role at the headquarters of Verve, an automobile parts manufacturing company that owns 10 plants across the United States. Andrews has been tasked with improving sustainable operations at the plants. Andrews recently held a related role for a toy manufacturer whose US headquarters frequently issued mandates to contracted plants in Asia. At Verve, plants operate quite independently and manage their own operations. Eager to make progress, Andrews sends an email requesting additional data and offering suggestions to the 10 plant managers, but is surprised when she does not receive the responses she expected.
