This case introduces the newly appointed Head of the Nonperforming Loans portfolio at a large bank in Egypt, who discovers that the bank and its practices may be partially responsible for a loan default. This case deals with broken banking systems, loan repayment practices, power and influence within the banking industry, individual and organizational reputations, and layers of the loan process.
